What Makes doingwell Different from Other Electrolyte Drinks?

Last updated on Feb 12, 2026

There are plenty of electrolyte drinks out there. Here's what makes doingwell different.

Higher Sodium for Real Performance

doingwell has approximately 1,000mg sodium per stick, while most competitors offer 100-380mg sodium per serving. When you sweat hard, you can lose 1,000-2,000mg of sodium per hour. Most drinks don't come close to replacing what you actually lose. We built our formula for real sweat loss, not just flavor.

Zero Sugar, Zero Compromises

We're zero sugar, but we didn't cheat to get there. No stevia (avoids the metallic aftertaste), no sugar alcohols (no gut issues), and we use organic monk fruit for clean sweetness. A lot of "zero sugar" drinks either taste like diet soda or use sugar alcohols that can mess with your stomach. We chose monk fruit because it works.

Third-Party Testing on Every Batch

Every batch of doingwell is tested for banned substances, heavy metals, microbes, and stability. We're also pursuing Informed Sport certification. Most brands rely on supplier certifications or test occasionally. Sean O'Malley is a UFC fighter who's been burned by tainted supplements. One bad batch can end a career. That's why we test every single batch — it's not optional, it's the foundation.

Maltodextrin-Free Flavors

Our organic natural flavors don't use maltodextrin as a carrier. A lot of "clean" brands use maltodextrin (a fast-digesting carb) to carry their flavors, which sneaks sugars and carbs into your drink. We don't.

Organic Ingredients Whenever Possible

We use organic monk fruit extract, organic bamboo extract, organic coconut water powder, and organic natural flavors. We choose organic and naturally-derived ingredients where it makes sense for performance and quality, not just for marketing.

Built by an Athlete Who Can't Afford Risks

Sean O'Malley co-founded doingwell because he needed something he could trust. The rule: if he won't put it in his body, it doesn't go in the product. That's not a tagline — it's the standard.

What About LMNT, Liquid I.V., and Others?

We respect the competition, but here's how we're different.

LMNT has high sodium like us, but uses stevia (metallic taste for some people). We use monk fruit instead. Liquid I.V. has lower sodium (approximately 500mg) and uses sugar — good for light activity, but not built for hard training. Gatorade and Powerade are low sodium, high sugar, and built for mass market taste, not performance. Generic hydration powders are often under-dosed on sodium and use cheap fillers. We're transparent about every milligram.

The Bottom Line

If you want a drink that tastes good and feels "healthy," there are plenty of options. If you want serious hydration built for performance, third-party tested, and created by someone who can't afford to cut corners, you're in the right place.
